Jungle penetrator for jungle medevacs

with new maps such as Dakrong, or Prei Khmaoch Luong, with dense jungles where it may be difficult to find a nearby clearing for a helicopter landing, I was wondering about the possibility of  including a jungle penetrator on medevac choppers.

This descended from the helo trough the jungle canopy, down to the ground, where the fins were deployed

the injured (or downed pilot ) seated on the deployed fins of the penetrator

And could be extracted trought the jungle canopy and up to the chopper.

Unfortunately I do not have the skills to program or model the thing, but it is not a big thing, much less complex than some of the vehicles we are doing and would bring a big deal of realism to the game allowing jungle extractions.  The helicopter hovers over the trees, downs a rope with the penetrator until hitting, say < 0.5 ATL , then the thing has an add action to strap the injured to the penetrator,  up he goes, and then, upen reaching the chopper,  the script moves the guy to his place on the stretcher.  What do you think? anyone up to the challenge?

Hmmm, maybe if you can trick Arma into thinking a player is a valid slingloadable object. But then ... the sling loading doesn't feature any kind of hoisting the rope with an object attached :/

I was thinking more on the advanced rappel mod, where the ropes appear and the player controls witht the keyboard how fast or slow he descends trough the rope, this is the kind of coding we should look at.

Another example of existing hoisting up/down scripting exist in cup's LHD where you can lower and hoist up a RHIB or in the FFAA mod where you do the same with a Zodiac from the BAM ship.

it exists already!


It is a work in progress.

The modder identifies himself as "NightIntruder" in youtube.

He has another mod with just a sling recue which was operative for ARMA2 and he is now adapting it to Arma3


At the end of the video he explains that the hoist concept was from OFrP and IKaR who gave him permission to use it for his medevac venom.

Perhaps, if one of our modders or PR staff can  find them and get in contact we can save a lot of work to get this feature working in UNSUNG mod.
